Syclone racing trucks lie stranded on their sides at the
Road Appleloosa Circuit
The mane motorsport news this week; An enquiry has been made into the safety of the NASCOLT Syclone Series after seven out of the eight vehicles participating in the race this weekend at the Road Appleloosa circuit had rolled over after taking corners at high speed. EFM Officials are currently looking into what may have caused the problem, although all evidence currently shows that the issue is with the NASCOLT trucks, which could lead to the series being axed, as well as a huge downturn in sales for the truck's manufacturer GMC. Luckily, non of the drivers were severely injured.

The Baleyard 500 was also this weekend for NASCOLT Regal Cup drivers. Again, this race was plagued with accidents particularly for the racing team of Princess Celestia herself, whose car had multiple problems throughout the race and eventually had to be retired. The first accident occured on the first corner, when the car caught the wall, and ended up driving at a 45 degree angle to the road surface, which -although very impressive- caused severe damage to the vehicle's suspension.

Things only got worse for the team as later on their car suffered a tire blow-out on the back straight, throwing the car into a spin in front of the Sweet Apple Acres car, which could not move out of the way in time. Both cars sustained heavy damage and were unable to continue the race.

We spoke to Sweet Apple Acres' team captain, Applejack, who told us "We're a little disappointed with the result, we were having a good run out there and we were on for a podium finish, which we're really in need of to make up the points lead some of the other teams have on us. Sadly it just wasn't to be, but we're going to take this in our stride and we'll just have to be a bit more careful next race."

The Sweet Apple Acres team had a lot more luck in the Equestrian Touring Car Championship on Wednesday. Starting near the back of the pack after missing the qualifying session because of car trouble the team were considered to be the underdog of the race, but after managing to avoid the crash before turn one, which severely damaged the tail of the Great And Powerful Performance team's 2011 WRX Sedan, the Sweet Apple Acres BMW M5 managed to pull it's way up the field into the fight for first with the DJ PON3 Audio Systems' Crossfire and a different WRX Sedan, and eventually finish first in both the Sedan Class and overall.

Of the nine cars that started the race, eight finished, with the Great And Powerful Performance WRX having to retire on its tenth lap due to the repercussions of the damage it took before the first time, which was a great disappointment for team leader Trixie as the team have yet to achieve a podium finish in any of the events they have entered this season.

GT3 Equestria was an intense race this week at the Mareburgring Grand Prix Circuit, with an astonishing performance by newcomers Sweetie Belle Auto Styling who entered with the new F10 model of the BMW M5. After some very close racing on the first lap with the Maserati of rival customisation company, 20% Cooler Customs, the two cars collided and the BMW was thrown backwards into the gravel trap.

But the Sweetie Belle Auto Styling team did not let this stop them, and picked up the race from the back of the pack. The 20% Cooler Customs team called their car into the pit to inspect the damage, but the Sweetie Belle BMW kept going, gaining a position over their rival's Maserati. Passing two more cars, the BMW made its way into the three way fight for fifth place with the Derp Secret Aston Martin Virage and the Griffon Tires/Nightmare Night Nissan Skyline.

Eventually, the BMW managed to pass both cars, and even caught up to the Mugen Integra and Chevrolet Camaro that were fighting for third. The car made a pass of both cars to take third on the final lap, and achieve a podium finish.

We went to speak to the team leader after the race, to find out the she's only a school filly from Ponyville. "I started the team to see if I could get my cutie mark in motor racing. It doesn't seem to have worked though, I don't think I'm going to get my cutie mark at all at this rate."
